Friends in the Valley

Luke and I have been so blessed to have several friends come and visit us in Harrisonburg this spring!  Maybe they finally got tired of all my complaining about driving...haha!  Either way, we have been thankful to be hosts and to show everyone our favorite parts of Harrisonburg.  The last weekend in March Houston, Sara (AKA Squirrel Baby) and Dereck came to visit.  We had such a great weekend with them...one of my favorites of all time!

They did not get to the burg till late on Friday, so we spent most of our evening hanging out and catching up at the house.  On Saturday we got up and headed to the Farmer's Market and then tried a newer vineyard in the area:  Bluestone. It was so small, but beautiful and full of character.  Their selection of white wine was AMAZING and their tasting was longer and less expensive than Cross Keys.  It was also fun to see D-Reg in such a classy establishment...haha!

Their tasting room was pretty small, but because they have had some much success in the short amount of time they have been opened, they are building a new room next fall.

The guys enjoyed wine AND cigars

Sara, Houston's GF, is awesome!  I enjoyed spending time with her!

The whole group:  what a fun weekend!

The beautiful house of the owners

 the views were amazing

Sara and I climbed the huge hill and took a pic of the guys picnicking!

After spending the day at the vineyard we headed to Billy Jack's for some wings and basketball (we could not stay classy all day!).  Then Boy Taylor (a friend from my program) hosted a get together for our friends.  It was fun introducing our friends to everyone, and they were a hit of course!  I am pretty sure my cohort would trade me for D-Reg any day :)

 love at first throw...

Luke must have thought something was funny.

We had a blast!  The next day we woke up and all went on a group run!  Sara and Houston were training for a half-marathon, so we all decided to join!

Thanks so much for coming to visit!  By the way, our time at Bluestone and Cross Keys had led Luke and I to try to visit as many Virginia Wineries as possible.  Several have been named top in the country and we are so close to them!  We now have a map on our wall and will keep track of where we have been..here's to a great and cheap summer activity!  Nothing like bringing your own lunch and picnicking with a great view and an even better glass of wine.
