Bottom of the Burg

Luke and I are officially married and moved in to the Cellar (of the house pictured to the right)! Things have been wonderful so far as we have been learning about what it means to be married. We are also discovering new things about each other--which is so refreshing because we have known each other for over 9 years--you would think we would know it all.

I've learned that Luke cleans the dishes, but never washes the lids of the pots. It drives me crazy. Why wash something half way?! Even though the lid may not have the soup cooked in it, or the pasta sauce...it still gets steamy and dirty!

Luke has learned that girls see dirt 3 days before dudes do.

The small things we learn each day! And, we learn something new about living in a basement every day as well. Luke's favorite wedding present is our cast iron skillet. We LOVE it!! He uses it to cook bacon, sausage, etc in it. But, because of our short basement ceilings (as in 7.5 feet tall) you can always smell it DAYS after. We also do not have air conditiong, and we have very few windows to open. When we do open the door to let out some air, we always get at least 5 or 6 pestering flies that join us. Luckily, Luke loves killing these flies and considers it his new hobby. He goes after them with windex on the reg.

Anyway, life is interesting and here are some pics of our new pad for you to enjoy :)

Part of the living room. Wish we had before photos because that pole was definitely pink.

If you are looking at this, more than likely you gave us something for us to have in our house. Allison, thanks for the couch. Grace youth group, the coffee table. Mom, love the lamp and side table, and coffee table. Evan and Matt, the rocking chair. Connie gave us the beautiful painting (marrying the son of an artist has its benefits!). The list goes on and on...

Both of these pictures are of our HUGE bedroom. Again, thank you good will and friends for helping us furnish our place!

I have a new rule that every place I live in has to have a red room. This paint happens to be called "energy red" and makes for a fun place to cook. Please note cupboard to the left. My mom found this on the side of the road and fixed it up (spray paint and all). I used it for my clothes the past 2 years, but it is great in our kitchen!

The past two pictures are for YOU. Yes, you. Our guest bedroom and office...waiting to be used by our friends and family that come visit us. We love you and look forward to keeping you updated on our life!
